Ketaki joha Rice

variety of rice are as follows :
- This variety of rice was notified in 1999 by the Researchers at
the Assam Agricultural University.
- The scientific name of this rice is IET-14390.
- According to researchers, this new variety of rice can give
basmati a run for its money.
- This variety takes about 145-160 days to grow.
- It is best grown in rainfed shallow low lands.
- The grain is medium slender and resistant to blast.
- Except for its size, it can compete with basmati in every other
respect.
- After boiling, the size of the basmati grain is 12 mm while this
is 8 mm.
- Its aroma was much better than basmati.
- The ketoki joha rice is been grown only in Assam.
- There are seven local short, slender, scented joha varieties
(PPS- 18,31,50,55,56,58,85).
