Rice is the staple food of all
Indians. Infact in India rice is worshipped. Harvest festival or
Sankranthi is all about celebrating rice in India. Particularly in South
India, rice plays an important role. It is the main grain cultivated in
this region and it is a nourishing food that people subsist on every day
of their life. It is no wonder that there is a festival dedicated to the
almighty rice. Equally worshipped are the cow, the man's best partner
and the elements earth, sun and water, who make, growing and cultivating
of rice possible.
