Texamati Rice
Various features of this
variety of Rice are as follows :
- Texmati Rice is the most widely recognized brand of
aromatic rice in the US.
- This aromatic rice is a mixture between American long-grain
rice and Indian basmati rice. As its name implies, it is grown
primarily in Texas.
- It has a more distinctive aroma and flavor than American
long-grain rice, but less than basmati rice.
- Texmati rice is available in white and brown (unprocessed)
forms. White rice sets off food flavors more distinctly, while
brown rice has a higher fiber content and takes longer to cook.
- Unlike regular rice, Texmati when cooked, has the appetizing
aroma of popcorn and a subtle nutty taste. It cooks up fluffy and
separate in 15 minutes.
- It can be served alone as a delicious side dish or can be used to
enhance any recipe.
- Texmati is an aromatic variety of rice that smells like
popcorn when cooking, and has a delicious, nutty taste, not
bland like ordinary rice. It cooks up light and fluffy every time.
- Texmati costs more than some rice because it doesn't produce as
much rice per acre at harvest as ordinary (plain) long grain
varieties.
- This rice was created in the United States to mimic Basmati Rice.
It is a good rice but has failed to have all the characteristics of
Basmati.
