Type-3/Dehradoon Basmati Rice
Features of this variety of
rice are as follows :
- Dehradun city is famous for Basmati rice which is locally grown.
This city is also called the “mecca of basmati rice”.
- Dehradooni Basmati is a speciality of Doon Valley.
- This is declared as a variety of Basmati Rice under the Seeds
Act, 1966.
- Although several aromatic varieties rice are grown and consumed
by the farmers of Doon valley but no other varieties of basmati has
able to attain the status of Dehradooni Basmati.
- It is highly priced and delicious, in spite of its small grain
size.
- It takes 125-135 days to mature.
- Its average yield is about 3000-3500 kg/hectare.
